Malindo Air is a joint venture between Malaysia and Indonesia, hence the name Malindo (mal – indo). The company was forged together in 2013 as a cooperative pact between Malaysia’s National Aerospace and Defense Industry (NADI) and Lion Air of Indonesia. Now operating over 800 flights per week in more than 40 destinations, there is no wonder the global expansion has included Australia.
Malindo’s expansion in Australia consists of five locations, two of which are now serviced by Oceania Aviation. Adelaide (ADL), Sydney (SYD), Melbourne (MEL), Brisbane (BNE) and Perth (PER) all host Malindo’s flights to Kuala Lumpur (KUL) however, Perth is the only airport which offers direct flights to KUL. The remaining four airports still offer flights through to Kuala Lumpur with the addition of a stop over in Denpasar.
Malindo’s latest expansion in Sydney called for the recruitment of 28 new Oceania Aviation staff members. These employees were introduced to positions in the aviation industry such as Ramp, Fleet Presentation and Customer Service. Along with new recruits for the Sydney Airport operation, some existing Oceania Aviation staff offered their expertise to help in the beginning stages.
Oceania Aviation is looking forward to providing the same service promise of exceptional ground handling, delivered in the safest, most compliant and efficient way. As Oceania now services Malindo Air’s flights at two airports in Australia, Oceania is pleased to begin what will hopefully be a long lasting business relationship with Malindo Air.
